The spirit comes through

St. Matthew's United Church in Halifax was bouncing to the sounds of gospel music on Tuesday. The church is the setting for Jeri Brown: The Spirit Comes Through, a one-hour television special for Bravo. Produced by New Scotland Pictures of Halifax, the special follows jazz singer Brown as she chooses 15 young singers from Nova Scotia's black community, mentors them and eventually performs with them in front of an invited audience at St. Matthew's. Brown was one of the featured vocalists in New Scotland's Vision special Quartet Plus Four At Christmas in 2003. New Scotland will see its Dance Atlantic Series begin airing at the end of March on Bravo.
